Ansett Flying Boat Services Pty. Ltd. (Ansett Airways Flying Boat Division) Breguet 942 During 1965, Reg Ansett advised various government authorities that the days of flying boat operations at Lord Howe Island were numbered & suggested that the subsidies for that service could be reduced if the QANTAS services to Norfolk Island were transferred to Ansett, & a runway built to allow the operation of Breguet 942 STOL aircraft. Ansett announced that Lord Howe Island could lose its flying boat services within 6 months.As a result, Ataka (Australia) P/L submitted a proposal to sell Ansett a 69-seat Shin Meiwa SS-2A, 4-turboprop, amphibian.
